About Us

Walker Area Water Watch is a new nonprofit dedicated to the health, happiness, and longevity of people across the greater Walker County area of Alabama. We believe a thriving life begins with access to safe, clean water.

Our work is rooted here. Led by people who have called Walker and Winston counties home for the past 10 years, and with leadership experience spanning more than 20 years in the nonprofit environmental sector, we are committed to monitoring local water quality and sharing timely, accurate information.

Walker Area Water Watch is guided by a newly formed board of local citizens who care deeply about protecting our environment and preserving access to clean, safe waterways.

Over the next 9–12 months, we will build the foundation for our water-testing program by securing equipment and supplies, establishing testing procedures, developing partnerships, and sharing updates as the program takes shape. Our goal is to create a reliable, community-centered source of information about the water that matters to Walker County.
